Who's Who in RH?

I've made a cast of characters for Remember Him, which can be found here: http://avampwriter.blogspot.com/p/whos-who-in-rh.html or from the tab above.

Pay attention to the spoiler alert, though!

Goodies

In celebration of me not strangling everyone for waking me up at the crack of dawn, I give us all this. Have a good morning.

More Marius

A couple more shots of Martin Pichler by Rick Day. These are what drew me to him for Marius. What do you think?

New Muses

Well, not new, but the pictures are.

First, I added a picture of Clint Mauro to my muses. Aside from being my favorite model, Clint is also my inspiration for Jon Billings in Exposure Time. Thanks to Front Management, for allowing me to use the incredible shot from the Armani A|X Body campaign (2007).

Next, I'll admit (though some of you know) that the book of models that Abe and Tork discuss was based on Mariano Vivanco's Uomini: Dolce & Gabbana (Rizzoli, 2011). From the cover image below, I'm sure you'll figure out the attraction. Click here to see a few images from the book on my tumblr blog.

Thanks to Mariano Vivanco for the image!

Update

Hey there.

Sorry to have disappeared for a while. My son is having trouble adjusting to school and it's been really hard. He's non-verbal and has Autism, so it's a constant struggle to maintain my sanity. His teachers thought he'd started making some words by now, but he hasn't, so...

urgh.

Well, I have been writing and trying to figure out what to do with this story. Hopefully you don't give up on it, and hopefully you didn't read Chapter 5 and sit there scratching your head.

Thanks for reading.

Chapter 5 is up!

My laptop is back, and the much delayed chapter has finally been posted!  Thanks for being patient. Let me know what you think!

Yipeeeee!

My computer is fixed and is going to be shipped back to me tomorrow! I am very excited to get back on track with RH. I think you guys will like the results.

Good things...

  • I'm hand-writing the next chapter feverishly, although I can't remember everything that I'd written on my laptop, so I'm going a little bonkers.
  • I've had positive responses to all photographer inquiries, except for one, which I wasn't surprised about. Can't say who, but he's rather...controversial.
  • Several photogs have offered to send me more pictures, which is crazy cool!
  • I got permission from Wiener Models to use their models' images...never thought that would happen!

The Etymology of names in "Remember Him."

While I'm working, I thought you might like some trivia about the names in Remember Him:
Do I think of all of this beforehand? Um…no. As is my usual odd luck, I choose names and then find out later that their meanings are somewhat connected with the story.
CARTER: I chose Carter because of my love of Egyptology. Howard Carter was the archaeologist who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun.
DENWRIGHT: Dennis is a form of  "Dionysus" or the god of wine. "Wright" means maker or worker. So Denwright becomes "maker of wine" (or blood?) It's a stretch, I know.
FREYR: the name of a Nordic god of virility and prosperity. He was usually pictured as a fertility god (click here to see him), and was said to "bestow peace and pleasure to mortals."
AMSEL: Comes from the name "Anselm."
Interesting note: St. Anselm was Archbishop of Canterbury, whose famous "dilecto dilectori" or love letters lead some scholars to believe that Anselm was a homosexual.
One of his letters begins: "Greeting from Brother Anselm to his honoured master, best beloved brother and most attached friend, Master Gundulf.
Though I desire to write to thee, soul most beloved of my soul…I know not how best to begin my address. For whatever I know about thee is sweet and joyous to my spirit: whatever I desire for thee is the best which my mind can conceive. For I saw thee such that I loved thee as thou knowest; I hear thee to be such that I yearn after thee…whithersoever thou goest, my love follows thee; and wherever I remain, my longing embraces thee."
MARIUS EBERLY: from Mars "god of war"; and from Eberhard "strong boar"
SECUNDUS: Latin for "second," referring to the second brother.
ALDER: from the Norse Eald "old" and Here "army," referring to the older, more violent brother.
DRUBICH: It just came to me. There is no town in Germany named Drubich.
ERZABET: Ersébet (or Ershabet) Báthory (1560-1614) was a Hungarian countess who is considered by some to be the first female vampire.
STEFAN GEBHARDT: derivation of Stephen "crowned" because of his bright blond hair; and Geb "gift" Hard "hard," referring to Stefan's...virility, to put it mildly.

Stauette of the Norse god Freyr
Clearly, he was a fertility god.

Carter & Freyr vs. Moi

Carter and Freyr are driving me nuts. I can't decide how to put into words everything in my head that these two could get up to. Fear not, readers, I am hunkering down with  chips and water to get work done.

The water is instead of my usual Arizona sweet tea, since my husband is on a diet. He started working out after he saw my tumblr blog, poor guy! He's very understanding, though, and mumbled something like "at least they're dressed."

"Um...sure, honey."

Actually, my blogs are like Ivory Soap: 99.44% pure.

Coup!

Got the okay from Cristiano Madureira to use his images. He shoots for "Made In Brazil," (www.madeinbrazilblog.com check it out!) and works with all of the top Brazilian male models. Did a victory dance for this one!

Chapter 5 proving difficult. Amsel is a complete diva right, and until he calms down, I can't concentrate.

So strange!

In the past few hours, I've had two Brazilian photographers write back saying that they don't understand why I'm asking for permission to use their photos. How bizarre is that? Babelfish doesn't help. The Portuguese word for copyright is...copyright.

Not counting the Brazilians, I've only had 1 person *coughs: Agency!* say no, but I like my Abe, so there.
