I don't believe in censoring reading materials for teens, but I think we need to draw the line at explicit materials like the Fifty Shades series. I found a picture of the cover and a review of 50 Shades on tumblr the other night and was shocked to find out that it was from a 14 year old girl.
My stories aren't that much more explicit than those books, yet I have an 18+ warning on my blog. Does anyone else think that this is a problem, or am I just behind in my views? Comment if you'd like to. I'm curious to what everyone else thinks.
I think writing like an adult when you're only 14 is wrong, kind of like the flip side of child porn. And then you have websites like Lit where you aren't allowed to portray sex between anyone under 18 when the whole world knows that teenagers are having sex with each other. Go figure.
